Nurses Trained in Advance of Feb 2026 Medical Mission
Thank you to everyone who attended the day of training at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Liberia on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026.
On Friday, Feb. 20, KBNF hosted a nurses’ training at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Liberia.
“In neuroscience,” KBNF President and Neuro Nurse Marj Ratel said, “as the patient deteriorates, they lose the ability to advocate for themselves.”
She reminded the nurses that they need to be the patients’ advocates. “You are the conduit between them recovering or dying.”
These nurses will support the February 2026 multinational medical mission consisting of a collaboration between the Korle-Bu Neuroscience Foundation (KBNF), Helping Those in Need, our US partner, and the Swedish African Neurosurgery Collaboration (SANC).
We are so grateful to be back in Liberia, providing brain and spine surgeries to people who might not otherwise have access. We know that quality nursing care is essential to a successful mission.
Thank you to all the nurses who attended, investing in their career and in furthering patient care.
Together we support the development of neuroscience care in Liberia and beyond.
