| Dr. Jocelyne S. Lapointe |
|
Since the mid 1970’s, the constantly evolving medical imaging technology has seen CT scans, MRIs, ultrasound and digital angiography radically alter the diagnosis and management of all types of conditions affecting the brain and spine. Dr Lapointe comes to the Korle-Bu team with 30 years of experience in clinical Neuroradiology at the Vancouver General Hospital, including a five year term as Head of the division of Neuroradiology of the department of Radiology of the University of British Columbia. In addition to teaching medical students, Radiology and other residents and student radiographers and medical radiation technologists, she made major contributions to the functional design of the original Neuroradiology section opened in 1979 and to the new Radiology department opened in 1999. Because of her two decades of work as an advisor for the Medical Radiography program of the British Columbia Institute of Technology and as a surveyor of Medical Radiography teaching programs in seven of Canada’s ten provinces for the Canadian Medical Association and more recently as a member of the CMA’s Conjoint Committee on Accreditation, she will work to enrich existing or developing educational programs in Ghana, at the medical and technological levels. She envisions a greater availability of neuro-imaging services and increased expertise in their use at Korle-Bu Hospital., with the development of the Neurosciences Centre of Excellence. |
