Mission

To create and sustain an academically based Centre of Excellence in Neurosurgery and Clinical Neurosciences, based at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, whereby to provide a high quality clinical service to the people of Ghana and West Africa and to foster an academic environment of relevant teaching and research to benefit Ghanaian and West African society.

Vision

To construct and support a freestanding Clinical Neuroscience and Neurosurgical facility.

To establish an independent Clinical Neuroscience and Neurosurgical Unit that utilizes the immense potential of the Ghanaian and West African medical community.

To serve the relevant population in a medically advanced environment so that ultimately no Ghanaian or West African should have to leave the region for neurosurgical and/or clinical neuroscience care, except in the most exceptional and rare circumstances.

To service the population at large, not only by expert medical services but also by public education.

To be active participants with the College of Health Sciences, the University of Ghana, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ghana and West Africa in the education of new doctors and paramedical personnel.

To create and disseminate new knowledge by active research programs.

To solicit and secure local, regional, national and international partners in the establishment, maintenance and advancement of the Clinical Neurosurgical and Neuroscience Unit.

To enhance the existing Neurosurgery Service at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, providing medical supplies and equipment, educational and professional development resources.
